The End of My Garden

These are bags of peppers from the garden. The bag on the left is full of Jalapenos. They are really hot.
A few of my crookneck squash.
Some of the tomatoes, soon to be salsa or chili sauce. I haven't decided yet.
My Walla Walla Sweet Onions were huge this year and oh so yummy on a burger.
The cabbage. You can see the monster on the end.
My apples are almost ready. I am eating one right now. It is yummy but will be much sweeter after the frost.
Well, I worked in my garden all day. We are having a storm front come in tomorrow, so I got out every thing that would freeze. This cabbage doesn't look as big as it is in real life. It weighs 10 pounds.

Autumn is here!

"I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air."- Nathaniel Hawthorne

I wish I could spend more daylight hours in the open air. To much to do inside.

More Canning Again...

I am still trying to learn this blog thing. I added the more canning and somehow didn't get the pictures and text that I wanted. Sorry about that. I will learn.
Saturday I made some plum jelly. It is such a beautiful color. Tonight Doug and Aggy helped me can 9 quarts of pears. I took this picture before we canned the pears to show how pretty they were. The other picture is of Aggy helping us.

Delicious Autumn!

This is a beautiful quote from George Eliot that I love:

"Delicious Autumn! My very soul is wedded to it. And if I were a bird, I would fly around the world seeking the successive Autumns."

I can feel autumn in the air. I love it.

My New Motto

"Work as if it was your first day.
Forgive as soon as possible.
Love without boundaries.
Laught without control.
And never stop smiling."

Up date on "work like a man-day"

I made an executive decision that we would go out to dinner tonight. It was great. And, drum roll please......I got my ironing done.

Work Like A Man-Day

Today was my "work like a man-day". It is my day that I work harder than a man. I mowed the lawn, weeded an area in the yard that we had some bushes pulled from earlier this summer and hadn't done one thing with since then. I had some new plants that needed to be planted in the area desperately, but haven't taken the time to do so. It was very dry and hard to shovel but I got it done and the plants in the ground. Now the water is soaking in. I am also trying to get caught up on my ironing, so I would go work for 30 to 45 minutes, come in and iron and cool off then go back out.I got so behind on the ironing that I decided I would get it done this week. Yesterday I did 20 shirts, (yes I know, I was really behind) then today I have done 7 more shirts, and 2 pants, but I still have several shirts to go and 5 pants and 2 skirts. Yuk, I will never get that behind again. Valerie and Jacob came over to see me. That was a welcomed rest, we went in the back yard and Jacob was in the swing for a long time. He had so much fun. I also washed my sheets and towels and hung them on the line. I still need to get them off. Tonight I need to can some beans I got from my garden. No rest for the wicked.
