The Long, Hard Ride

I was thinking as Doug and I were driving to the Veterinarian with Aggie Mae yesterday (see previous blog) what a long, hard ride it was. That got me thinking of all the long, hard rides I have had to go on in my life. The thing that came to mind was the long ride after a funeral to the cemetery. I don't like those rides at all. I usually have a huge lump in my throat the whole time, that is exactly how I felt yesterday on the way to the vet. I remember when my dad died 29 years ago, I was 26 years old, 8 months pregnant with our 3rd child, we lived in Kennewick Washington and had a 10 hour drive to Idaho for the funeral. I was instructed by my OB to get out and walk every hour. Well, it was stormy, I had a 4 year old and a two year old that slept a lot and I didn't want to wake them every time we stopped. Needless to say, it was a long, hard ride. Let alone the pregnant part, I was going to say good bye to my father. I know these bumps in the road (long, hard road) help us grow. I just wish they weren't so often at times.

  1. Hi!

That was a long hard drive - it was a hard long year or two, or three! It's good to think about those things, as I know those long drives are not over for us...love you.

    Hugs,
    Barb
